***UPDATE: I added this super geeked out picture of me while I was out on the Rez – what a cute little lamb, huh? It is hard to believe this was almost 10 years ago!***
Hey Everyone!
I have exciting news to share.
Brave New Traveler has just published an article I wrote about my time on the Navajo Reservation. Please go check it out! It is my first article for someone else! I am really excited about it!

What a heartbreaking story. I sometimes wish the Native Americans hadn’t been so amenable to the first settlers hundreds of years ago. The exploitation of these people just never stops.

Hey there, great article and well done on having your first piece published on another site! I’m sure there are plenty of sites out there that will be interested in inspiring tales like that. Keep it up and your blog will be bustling in no time.

Hey Mel,
Yeah, I have often felt the same thing, I guess what most Americans don’t get is that the treaties that were signed between the colonists and the Natives were NATION to NATION. So many Americans feel the Native people get “special treatment” or what not, and the reality is that it is not special, it is their right as independant nations!
Kirsty,
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for all your help over at working nomad. It is nice to be able to write about what you are passionate about and I am glad that people can hear about it again!

Hi
As an Aussie, I knew there were problems with the way white man were treating the aboriginals of the land, but I didn’t realise it was this bad. Your Government seem worse than ours, and I thought what had happened in the past in Australia was bad, but you have opened my eyes to another world
Loved the article, thanks
David

Hey my buddy David!
Thank you for the comment.
Yeah, Australia was pretty bad too, but it seems like they have done more work to try to solve the problems…do all the Aborigines in Australia have the same language and culture? That may have something to do with it.
Canada was bad too, but I think out of the 3 of us, they have done the best to make amends and admit to much wrong doing. Here in the States we have a long long way to go -especially when it is swept under the rug.
Is it similar in Australia?

I checked out your article on Brave New Traveler! Very impressive! And I totally agree that when people begin to focus on the things that really matter in life, most luxuries that we take for granted become unimportant. I can’t wait to see your stuff in magazines and periodicles!

Clarence!
Finally!
Thanks for commenting! Yeah, sometimes for me it is sad to realize that it takes extreme conditions for me to understand what is important in life …I always feel I should be smarter than that!
Anyway, if you end up seeing my articles in magazines or periodicals I will be SO HAPPY!
(In case anyone wants to know, you can see Clarence in the Toronto Album – I’ll give you a hint – Spiky Hair! )
